Vertical World is a sci-fi climate thriller feature film / mini-series, written and directed by
Anh Quoc Tran, in strategic partnership with RETV (retv-hd.eu). In a near future where rising seas have
made land the scarcest resource on Earth, a young woman risks everything to reach the last free
mountains.
The story
As coastlines vanish and habitable ground shrinks to a handful of mountain peaks, humanity is forced
into vertical cities where altitude equals survival and the wealthy claim the highest, safest ground.
Our protagonist, born in the flooded lowlands, discovers a truth about the vertical order that could
either save her people or collapse the fragile hierarchy keeping millions alive. Vertical World blends
hard science-fiction world-building with an intimate, character-driven survival story, exploring class,
climate migration, and what people are willing to sacrifice for solid ground beneath their feet.
